Guest misterflynn Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Hi, I have dual air conditioning in my 2004 galaxy but the rear aircon unit does not blow cold air even when set to low. One ford dealer said it should blow cold air but another said that the rear unit is just a fan with a heater unit. Is my rear aircon broke or is it just a fan with heater?? From reading other post I suppose I should just be glad the front aircon is working!! ;) Quote
chromedome Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Have you got vents in the roof above the second row of seats? If not, then you don't have rear a/c. Quote
Guest misterflynn Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 No, there are no vents above, just vents on the rear passenger side inner wheel arch - blowing on to the floor of the third row. I think this is controlled by it's own fan unit I'd love to know why they call it dual air-conditioning if it isn't. Thanks for the reply Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Proper dual aircon has vents in the roof above the rear seats and a separate rear evaporator. You just have the standard aircon which comes with a rear auxilliary heater for those cold winter days. The fan in it just blows the air around the cabin in the summer. Quote
seatkid Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 I'd love to know why they call it dual air-conditioning if it isn't. They don't, you do. Its dual zone temperature control. No ability to cool in the back. It is just a heater and a fan and its permanently in recirc mode. Quote
Guest misterflynn Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Thanks for all the replies, it now makes perfect sense. Seatkid......the "they" I was referring to was the Ford salesman who sold me the vehicle, and then the Ford service people who didn't correct me when i explained i did not have the roof vents but my rear fan wasn't cooling.......perhaps I should have come to this site first and i would have got an accurate reply first off!! As i said thanks for the response. Quote
